Cooperation Ties Are Being Strengthened Within the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation

The delegation of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the invitation of the National Supervisory Commission of the People’s Republic of China, took part in the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, organized in Beijing on October 17-18. Director of the Agency Akmal Burkhanov delivered speech at the ‘Clean Silk Road’ Thematic Forum.

The thematic forum participants expressed their readiness to support the initiative to create a ‘Clean Silk Road’, which would become an example of innovative and sustainable projects that can meet the needs of current and future generations. In addition, it was noted that it is important to actively cooperate in the fight against corruption and exchange experience with participating countries.

Representatives of 30 countries and international organizations participating in the forum emphasized the importance of the Silk Road, which has always connected East and West.

During the forum, the head of the Anti-Corruption Agency held a meeting with Ghada Fathi Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, with whom he discussed issues regarding the launch of the Regional Anti-Corruption Platform, scheduled for November 2 in Tashkent.

Also, Akmal Burkhanov held bilateral meetings with the heads of foreign and international organizations involved in the fight against corruption, including the Deputy Chairman of the National Supervisory Commission of China, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, the Chairman of the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption, the head of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the head of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan and the heads of anti-corruption departments of other countries. At the meetings, prospects for further cooperation were discussed.
